Adrenaline Freaks – 3/30

On Friday March 30th I spent the day at the Adrenaline Freaks track day. The temps were in the 30s in the morning, but the track was dry. More than anybody could hope for during March in Seattle! I arrived about 7:30AM and set up the pit with Arthur and Mitchell, Arthur was excited to get back on the track and ride his ’05 R6 and Mitchell was stoked to be back riding in general…even more so on a Fluid Suspension tuned ’06 GSX-R 750!

I was able to get in a few sessions before the rain crept in, ah well, nap time! As usual, the rain came and went and the track dried up a little bit….emphasis on a little. The front side was decent with some dry lines, but the back was still puddling. I went out a few sessions and decided to call it quits…hell, I had two more days of riding coming up.

Overall, it was a good day. I was able to spend some more time working on familarizing myself with the bike and spend some time with brake points and turn in markers.

First trackday of the season!

I was lucky enough to participate in the first trackday of the season today. The one thing about 2-Fast I really like is that allow passing on the inside and outside, even though I was being passed it was nice to get used to being passed. The R6 is a solid bike but I need to spend a lot more time on it to get comfortable.

Coming from the 749S, I was used to a narrow tank, different handling, and a different power band. All of this combined with my big crash last year, metal blocks, and no chance to ride since last June resulted in a lot of roadblocks. My body positioning is nothing compared to what it used to be, I am hesistant with my brake markers, and hesistant with the throttle. On a positive note, my lines are still good! Hopefully I’ll be able to hammer out the body positioning at the 3-30-07 Adrenaline Freaks day.

WMRRA #972

You’re looking at the new owner of race number #972! I attended the WMRRA New Rider Clinic this Saturday at RMC. All the talk got me excited for the upcoming season…so what did I do? I signed up for trackday on March 21st! SWEET! I’m excited to get the bike all dialed in and set up before the race weekend on the 31st!

Marijuana and Driving

It’s interesting to see empirical evidence on marijuana and driving, clearly something that would never happen in the US. Though some may take this as a green light to smoke and drive, they’d probably do so anyways.

BMW + Google saddle up

It’s always a pain in the ass keying nav points into your onboard navigation system. I mean, yes there have been alternative solutions, but they’ve all been kind of cumbersome: key in the destination by hand, or maybe find your address on your comptuer then transfer it via a flash drive; whatever the case, it’s more effort than it is acutally worth.

Now that BMW and Google have teamed up, you can send an address from Google Maps directly to your car. The only thing I am weary of is that damn idrive, I couldn’t use one of them if my life depended on it. Now that we’ve seen the push, I’m curious to see what others do…specifically Audi!

Track season approaching!

A new season is about to dawn upon us, first track day this season is a few weeks away. The bike is prepped and ready to rock, now I need to get my mind dialed in before I ride. Anyhow, hopefully, the weather will clear up and we won’t be riding in the rain!

On another note, after a bit of work, I’ve been able to work out most of the kinks on the Adrenaline Freaks website. I’m quite happy with how it turned out.
